Discover how AI transforms project risk management in this real-world PMI conference case
The AIxPM Team represents a dedicated group of PMI Serbia Chapter members who, on a volunteer basis, explore existing and develop new ways to practically apply artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the world of project management.
The team brings together professionals from various fields such as project managers, IT experts, analysts, consultants, and innovators with a shared goal of improving the tools, methods, and processes used to plan, monitor, and execute projects.
Through collaboration, experimental projects, and knowledge sharing, the AIxPM Team explores how AI can contribute to smarter planning, risk assessment, decision-making, and more efficient communication in projects and agile product development.
The focus of the team is on practical solutions and tools that connect technology and project management, from predictive analytics and automation to the use of generative models in the everyday tasks of project managers and other functions.
The AIxPM Team is open to all members of the PMI community who wish to contribute with ideas, research, and initiatives that shape the future of project management through AI.
Here you can find a practical example of applying artificial intelligence in the field of risk management, which was presented at the PMI conference as a concrete case demonstrating how AI can enhance risk identification, analysis, and decision-making in a project environment.
The material includes:
A presentation (PPT) providing an overview of the concept and approach
A demo recording demonstrating the practical application of the solution in a real-life scenario (on the right hand side)
The showcase was developed as a result of teamwork by:
Nikola Mirilo, Sunčica Vasiljević, Ana Božić, and Miloš Pejčić, with the goal of bringing AI closer to project managers through a clear, practical, and real-world example.
Modern project managers spend a significant portion of their time on recurring operational tasks, preparing reports, consolidating resource information, analyzing sprint progress, summarizing retrospectives, and producing stakeholder communications. While essential, these activities are highly manual and often pull attention away from strategic leadership and decision‑making. This use case demonstrates how AI can automate 60-80% of these daily project management tasks using readily available tools.
The use case presents an end‑to‑end framework showing how raw project inputs such as Jira exports, meeting notes, resource plans, sprint metrics, can be transformed by AI into actionable insights. AI rapidly generates sprint summaries, identifies risks and mitigation ideas, prioritizes backlog items, structures weekly executive updates, synthesizes retrospective themes, and highlights resource bottlenecks. Across six task categories, project managers who participated in the evaluation reported strong reductions in effort and overall high satisfaction with the quality of AI‑generated outputs, particularly for structured and repeatable tasks such as reporting and summarization.
By automating routine work, AI enables project managers to redirect their time toward leadership, stakeholder engagement, and higher‑value decision activities. The use case reinforces a practical takeaway: AI is strongest where inputs are structured, and the output format is predictable, while areas requiring contextual judgment continue to benefit from PM oversight. Most importantly, the approach requires no new system integration. AI can be deployed immediately within existing project environments, making it an accessible accelerator for any delivery team.
